Cindi Brouwer (Owner)

For Cindi, when the opportunity to purchase Gold Coast Gymnastics came along over 20 years ago, it was not only a great business opportunity, but a chance to continue to be involved in the sport that had given her so much as a child. Cindi was a gymnast through her teen years (as a Class II gymnast at Gymnastics Olympica under Coach Freitz Reiter as well as on her high school team), and she passed the love for the sport on to her daughter. Cindi has been involved with Gold Coast Gymnastics as a mother, owner, and now also as a grandmother for well over 20 years.
Prior to owning Gold Coast Gymnastics, she received her degree in Child Development from UCSB, and owned and operated a preschool while her children were young.
She and her incredibly supportive husband, Nick, have lived in Ventura for over 25 years.

Coach Shelby Spencer (Team Head Coach)

Coach Shelby comes to us all the way from Michigan where she was a gymnast through level 8, a competitive dancer, and an all state diver. As Shelby transitioned out of competing herself, she became a coach to pass on her knowledge and love of the sports with which she had grown up. She began coaching competitive diving and teaching dance at 18, and began coaching gymnastics at 19. We have been blessed to have Coach Shelby at Gold Coast Gymnastics for the past several years as a team coach and a very talented choreographer.
Shelby attended Delta College and Central Michigan University and holds degrees in psychology and biology.

Coach Kelly Fox

Coach Kelly started gymnastics at age 9 as a Class 3 gymnast. Competing through high school, she ultimately became a level 10 gymnast. Kelly competed in the Level 7 State Championships taking first place All Around and first place on Beam. Kelly has been coaching for nearly 20 years and has spent the last 15 years coaching with Gold Coast. She coaches compulsory and optional teams. Kelly's "day job" is working with students with exceptional needs in the Ventura School District. She is the proud mother of two children, Makena and Nathan. Makena is following in her mother's footsteps as a team gymnast here at Gold Coast Gymnastics

Coach Lisa Simmons

Coach Lisa was a competitive cheerleader for three years and spent seven years as a competitive gymnast. She trained to level nine. After leaving gymnastics, Lisa joined the diving team at her junior college where she competed for two years on springboard. She was the WSC Champion and placed second in the state for community colleges. Lisa started coaching at Gold Coast in 2008 and has worked with all levels of recreational gymnasts, as well as the Compulsory and Optionals Teams. She also returned to competition for a while, competing with the XCel team. She has attended three regional congresses as well as one national congress. She also attended the 2013 routine clinic in  Reno,   Nevada.

Coach Richard Thompson

Coach Richard is a Ventura County native who grew up playing all kinds of sports. His first love is football, and the determination and drive he learned on the field has translated very well to coaching. He has been coaching competitive gymnastics for ten years, and is currently also coaching high school football. Richard loves kids and loves to teach.

Coach Ashleigh Mower

Ashleigh, too, was a competitive gymnast. She turned her passion for the sport into a passion for coaching. Pursuing her dream of photography brought her to Ventura, and we are glad to have her.

Coach Tracy Campbell

Tracy came to us from clear across the country. He moved to California to work at the City Church in Ventura and to pursue his acting career. Growing up, Tracy was a gymnast and a basketball player. Outside of the gym (and off the court), Tracy loves to act, finding work in both television and film. In the gym, Tracy loves to help kids develop and strengthen their skill set. His favorite saying is, "Either you win or you learn."

Coach Sandee Watson

Coach Sandee was born in Glendale and raised in Santa Paula. She started gymnastics at age 7 and trained up to Level 8. She was also a member of her high school dance team. She's been coaching gymnastics for nearly 20 years and has coached Accelerated I up to Level 7. She currently coaches Academy III.

Coach Jill Duckhart

Raised in Washington   State, Jill competed in club gymnastics till she was 16. She then competed springboard diving in both high school and college and eventually moved on to show diving with the   US high diving team. Her degree is in Kinesiology with a Masters of Education. When she isn’t coaching compulsory team, she is a high school math teacher. Jill is happily married and blessed with a daughter, Jaye, who is now a level 6 gymnast at Gold Coast.

Coach Sarah Saito

arah grew up in Ventura, where she attended Buena High School, and went on to graduate from UCSB and Cal Lutheran. She was a competitive gymnast for years, and now brings the passion for the sport into her coaching. Sarah is very passionate about helping the less fortunate, animals and humans alike. To that end, she works as a financial advisor and particularly enjoys helping to guide people from debt to surplus and savings. As a coach, Sarah recognizes her responsibility to make a positive  impact on gymnasts' lives. Her hope is to aid in increasing the gymnast's self esteem trough positive interactions. Not surprisingly, Sarah's favorite song is "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.

Coach Kaela

Kaela not only grew up in Ventura, but she grew up right here at Gold Coast Gymnastics. She was a gymnast for ten years, competing first in the Junior Olympic Program, and then with the Xcel Team. Kaela even placed first on beam at States. Outside of the gym (and sometimes inside), Kaela likes to sing and act. She also enjoys reading, and loves to write. Kaela's favorite children's movie is Beauty and the Beast. When asked what she loves about coaching, Kaela said, "I love when a girl gets a new skill that has been hard for her. Then when she finally gets it she has an amazing, beautiful smile on her face."
